In 1995 he was voted Norwegian Player of the Year and became the first player from Norway to win an English League Championship medal.

Henning Berg was once sent off playing for Blackburn Rovers in a match against Manchester United in the 1994-95 season. However, Berg claims it was an injustice: "I just couldn’t believe it. It was a bad mistake by the referee, but then everybody makes mistakes. That’s the way it is."
